1. Hellyer County Dog Park
Hellyer County Dog Park is one of three off-leash facilities for the dogs of Santa Clara County. Located in San Jose, Hellyer County Dog Park is conveniently situated close to the 101, on the northern side of Hellyer County Park. While the dog park is fully enclosed and securely fenced, it does not contain a separate area for small dogs – all dogs play together in the shared space.
To bring a dog to Hellyer County Dog Park, you must be at least 16 years old, and only two dogs are permitted per handler. Please do not bring your dog to the dog park if they have a history of aggressive behavior.
2. Butcher Dog Park
Butcher Dog Park is a spacious dog park in San Jose, located inside Butcher Park. The park has picnic sites, a softball field, basketball courts, children’s playgrounds, and more. The dog park also has some great features, including separate enclosures for small and large dogs, benches for owners, and nearby bathrooms.
Parking for Butcher Dog Park is available on the nearby streets and usually isn’t too difficult to come by. Please clean up after your dog during their visit to the park, and note that all dogs must display proof of license and vaccinations.
3. Hart’s Dog Park
Hart’s Dog Park is conveniently located in downtown San Jose and is the perfect place for city pups to get some exercise, fresh air, and make a new friend or two. Hart’s Dog Park covers an area of around 2,000 square feet – plenty of space for sniffing and exploring. The dog park is fully enclosed and features a double-gated entry for extra security.
Additional features of Hart’s Dog Park include artificial turf and shaded benches where owners can sit and supervise their dogs. The park is well-lit for evening visits, and also has large planters and stumps which make fun obstacles for climbing and playing on. Parking for Hart’s Dog Park can be found on the street or in paid city lots – please note that parking is not free except for Sundays. Supervise your dog at all times during their visit to the park, and clean up their waste before you leave.
4. Delmas Dog Park
Delmas Dog Park, also known as Discovery Dog Park, covers almost 20,000 square feet of space in San Jose, CA. The park is securely fenced with a double-gated entry and is made up of bark-mulch to help reduce the muddiness of grass during the rainy months. There are also decomposed granite walking trails throughout the park.
For thirsty pups, there are drinking fountains and dog bowls that can be filled, and benches and tables are available for owners to use. The park is well lit for those visiting after sundown. Please clean up after your dog using the mutt mitt bags provided, and ensure your dog is closely supervised at all times during their romp in the park. Your dog must be fully vaccinated and have a valid license to visit Delmas Dog Park.
5. Raleigh Linear Dog Park
Raleigh Linear Park is a large public park in San Jose, CA. The park covers over 5 acres and has a number of amenities, including picnic areas, sporting facilities, playgrounds, lots of open space, and the Raleigh Linear Dog Park. The dog park at Raleigh Linear Park is fully enclosed with a secure fence and a double-gated entry.
Raleigh Linear Dog Park has both artificial turf and dissolved granite terrain, as well as benches and tables for owners. Please ensure your dog is on a leash whenever you are outside the designated off-leash area of Raleigh Linear Dog Park. Each owner may only bring up to two dogs to the part at once, and all dogs must show proof of vaccination and license to enter the park.
6. Los Gatos Creek County Park
If you’re looking for a whole day of adventure in San Jose, CA, look no further than Los Gatos Creek County Park. This park has great opportunities for hikers, joggers, bicyclists, and anybody looking for a breath of fresh air. It’s not just suitable for people – the Los Gatos Creek County Park allows dogs, and even has a separate, designated off-leash dog area.
The Los Gatos Creek County Park dog park features artificial turf, drinking water for dogs and owners alike, and shaded benched seating for owners. Parking is available at the Los Gatos Creek County Park parking lot, but please note a fee is charged for parking here. You can also purchase an annual parking permit for a cheaper rate if you’re looking to visit the dog park multiple times. Please ensure that your dog is on a leash whenever they are outside the designated off-leash area.
7. Watson Dog Park
Situated on Jackson Avenue and 22nd Street in San Jose, CA, Watson Park covers almost 30 acres of space and includes barbecue areas, picnic shelters, sporting fields, children’s playgrounds, and restrooms. There’s also a spacious dog park – Watson Dog Park, which is open daily from dawn until an hour after dusk.
Watson Dog Park is fully enclosed and features a separate area for small or shy dogs. There is benched seating where owners can relax, and parking is available in the nearby Watson Park parking lot. Please ensure your dog is supervised at all times and you clean up your dog’s waste. Owners may bring up to two dogs to the park at once – all dogs must display proof of vaccination and license.
8. Saratoga Creek Dog Park
Another of San Jose’s fantastic off-leash areas is the Saratoga Creek Dog Park. Open from sunrise to one hour after sunset, this is one of the smaller dog parks in San Jose, but it is securely fenced and features an artificial turf covering. There is also drinking water for dogs, and benches for owners.
Please ensure your dog is supervised, and bring only two dogs to the park at once. Dogs must be vaccinated and display a current license to visit the Saratoga Creek Dog Park. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs so that everybody can enjoy the park.
