1. San Antonio Humane Society
San Antonio Humane Society has served Bexar County, San Antonio since 1952. They are a no kill shelter whose vision is to end pet overpopulation by providing a loving and permanent home for every dog. Pets are never euthanized to create space.
Before applying to adopt, visitors are required to socialize with the dog for a minimum of 20 minutes to ensure compatibility. You also will be asked to set up a dog introduction if you own other pets. After completing the application, you will meet with an adoption counselor.

Every week, SNIPSA visits high kill shelters and removes animals who are soon to be euthanized. They provide dogs with necessary medical care and rehabilitate them until they’re ready to find their forever home.
To adopt with SNIPSA, you will first fill out an application. If approved, an adoption coordinator will connect you with the foster family to discuss meeting your potential dog. Adoption fees range and may be higher if the dog received additional non routine medical treatment.

Charming Pet Rescue is located in Boerne near San Antonio, Texas, and is a no kill rescue dedicated to homeless, abandoned, and abused animals.
Their facility offers a main yard for dogs to roam freely and two separate nursery buildings for moms and their puppies. They also have a sick bay for ill or injured dogs, requiring special care.

5. Converse Animal Shelter
Converse Animal Shelter is located near San Antonio, Texas, and is a non profit, no kill rescue. It opened in 1982 as one of the first no kill shelters in San Antonio and has cared for over 20,000 animals.
All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, have had all age appropriate vaccines, and are microchipped. If your new family member is too young to be spayed/neutered, they will do so for free when the dog comes of age.

6. San Antonio Pets Alive! Petco Foundation Adoption Center
San Antonio Pets Alive! is a non profit, no kill dog rescue that was founded in 2011. They rescue 5000 at risk pets from euthanasia every year. Since opening, they have saved 60,000 pets.
To adopt a dog, fill out the application on their site. You must spend a minimum of 30 minutes with the dog you want to adopt and meet with an adoption counselor. If you have current pets, a meet and greet will be conducted for adult dogs.
Adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchips, and heartworm preventatives.

7. Bulverde Area Humane Society
Located near San Antonio, Texas, Bulverde Area Humane Society is a volunteer, no kill shelter. They are non government affiliated and encourage donations. If you love dogs and want to help, they are currently seeking volunteers to help with feeding, kennel cleaning, dog walking, and more.
To adopt a dog, you’ll need to complete the adoption contract, followed by a review by one of the adoption counselors. They also offer meet and greets so that you may introduce your current pets to your new furry friend.
